Welcome to Sengkang Fire station. I have personally never entered a Fire station before and having served my NS in the Army, i was curious what life was like for my brother Shaheed and Stefan who both served in the Singapore Defence Force.
They were the one who told me that some Fire Stations actually do open their gates for visitors to tour the station every Saturday morning. Well, obviously this programme was directed mainly towards family and their kids and that got me thinking.
Is there a way for Children to be more involved and engaged in this immersion programme. I mean. As a young 5-6 Year old kid, you probably would not want to be anywhere near fire or let alone carry a fire extinguisher.
What if through Mediapipe Hands and i can let children experience what it is like to fight fire?
That shall be my concept. A Fire Fighting Simulator. For kids.
I got the green light. So. I think that was a very quick consultation. He suggested that i can look at different ways to educate kids about fighting fire and shared that one senior did something similar with a fire extinguisher. So time to explore this concept deeper.
In class, there was extra time which i decided to spend on attempting to create my own fire using p5.js. The goal really was to create a simple motion graphic.

I with a bit of help of ChatGPT created these set of simple layered triangles that “flickers”. Using different tones of yellow, i layered it to make it more dynamic when the animation is being played. I plan to hopefully use that in my fire fighting simulator for kids.
