This week kick starts the first ever series of classes for Computing for Design.
Naturally, i felt that this was a continuation from Year 1’s Electronics as a material. It was through that class which really kickstarted this process of using electronics as a medium for design. But this time round, the focused seemed to be on the notion of “Computational Thinking” and how that will guide our processes and execution of our work.
This module seems to be focused mainly on Javascript on p5.js. This is something new to me and i can foresee that it will have quite a steep learning curve. Especially since i have little to no experience on this.
We were asked this question. This shall be a question that i will continue to ponder for the next few weeks i suppose. We were tasked to do this simple exercise of translating a simple drawing that we did into a set of instructions. These instructions will then be given to someone else. I clearly did not do a good job at.
Three times i failed to include instructions for the ears. Brilliant. Presenting a earless pig. Sad. I need to pay more attention to detail.
These shall be the guiding principles throughout the next 12 weeks.
Computing for design seems like something i will have to wreck my head over. Big time. Not sure the difficulty of the projects especially now that it is individual work. I will try to approach this with a open mind an really try to evaluated how this can potentially become a useful tool for me in design. Perhaps it could be something that can provide me a slight edge. Ignoring the fact that ChatGPT is now so powerful. But thats where my design experience and input comes in over ChatGPT. I hope.
